I work in tech, decently good salary. I plan to ask my employer to sponsor me for a green card, I assume either EB-2 or EB-3 (my country of origin does not have a particularly long waiting list).
Thing is, I am hiv+. My condition is completely manageable and I have been doing fine for years. I know HIV has been removed from the list of the health conditions that made you unadmissible more than a decade ago, but I am wondering what, in practice, I should expect.
- Should I expect a prolonged medical check-up?
- How much do my odds decrease because of my condition?
- Are they simply gonna check that the cost of my medications is affordable based on my salary? Or what are they gonna look into?
I appreciate any insights. Thank you.
