Applying for visa renewal while waiting for a passport

I just became a Singapore citizen today! I need to get a F-1 visa renewal to reflect a change in citizenship to enter the US to start work on OPT. I was hoping to get a US embassy appontment soon, but DS-160 requires a passport number. Can I apply with my old passport (of a different country) or should I wait for the new Singapore passport? Thank you in advance for the help!
