I (34F) met a man from Columbia on a dating app a few months ago. We have been able to do nothing (besides work, school, and family obligations) but talk and video chat every day. We are both falling more deeply in love with each other as time goes on, and I have verified that he is a real, non scamming person. Because of covid, our options for meeting are limited and it's even worse because Columbian nationals are even more limited on where they are able to obtain visas and he has been denied several times for tourist visas into the US. I've been told that we need to meet in person to apply for a fiance visa, but I am not sure how to make that happen. Even then it will take up to 9 months for the application to go through. Neither of us thinks that we can wait that long to be together. To get proof that we have met, he wants me to go to Columbia and thinks it will be safe, but I don't know how to be sure of this. Does anyone have any advice for us on how to proceed? It would be greatly appreciated as I don't even know where to begin.
