I recently committed to a university to be a pre-med. I was doing some research and I found out that being a non us citizen or not holding a green card will affect your med school applications immensely. I myself am an H4, my sister and my mother, and I are dependants to my dad who is an h1. We have been here since 2012, and my dad still has not obtained a greencard. My parents plan on moving back to their country of origin after my sister finishes high school in two years. After they move back, and they have still not obtained a green card, will I be able to apply for medical school and residency after that? For those of you who don't know, residency is like a job for junior doctors to train before they start their own practice. As far as I know, H4 and H1 are work visas, so if it is still valid after my parents move back, I will still be able to work as a junior doctor, right?
