So I just recently moved to Cleveland, and wanted to check out the surrounding area. As I was looking on my maps I realized that Detroit was on the border with Canada, something I hadn’t known. Then yesterday I decided I’d drive up there and see how it compared to Cleveland. Only problem is I accidentally left my Pin on the border because I had been looking at it. So after my 3 hour drive I get there and my GPS immediately has me take an exit. Then I pass a sign that says “To Canada Border”, I freak out and look for the next exit.
But there wasn’t any.
So I get to what is essentially a Fancy Trucker stop but with no exits. I drive around for a bit, and eventually spot what looks like a cop. So I drive up to him and ask him how I can get back to the highway.
He doesn’t answer and with 3 of his buddies walk, up to my car. He asks “Who’s car is that” I say my dad’s. He says “Put it in park” So I do. Then I hear “Sir step out of the vehicle”
So ya they made me sit on my hood as they rifled through all the stuff in my car.
Because I Luckily don’t tend to engage in illegal behavior they didn’t find anything, so I got my car back and was shown the exit.
I was wondering if this is normal, or if I just met a Jerk US customs agent?
