F1 student visa expired, valid I-20. Is it wise to travel to Puerto Rico? What if the aircraft needs to make an emergency stop in another country? Will I be unable to re-enter the US?
I'm currently stuck in the US, unable to go home, since US consulates in my country are not taking any appointments and my visa is expired. My wife has suggested us to travel to Puerto Rico for vacation, but I'm concerned that in case the plane needs to make an emergency stop in another country we will be unable to re-enter the United States. Is this a valid concern?
