American with an 820 Partnership visa wanting to move back to USA with Australian boyfriend

Hello, I'm hoping someone can clarify with an Australian de facto partner visa question.

I am from the US and my partner is from Melbourne. We've been living in Melbourne for 3+ years and I have been on my 820 (temp) visa for about a year now. We are looking to move back to the US for a few years this Spring. Does anyone have experience doing this? I am cautious about any reason for my eventual 801 visa to be denied. Can I simply up and leave Australia on my temp 820? Especially with COVID-19.

Thanks so much in advance, I know these personal visa questions can be a bit dry.

NVC Case FE Review note

Hi everyone, my family and I are under the F3 category and we just received a notice from NVC that our documents have been approved and that we are Documentarily Qualified. My only concern is this message that we received today in addition to the acceptance: ​ " [Name of petitioner] does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p . To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted." ​ We already have a petitioner and a household sponsor (the household sponsor's income is above the required level), but still unsure why we received this.
