Hi everyone, this is a long complicated post and I will try and explain as best I can. My (British) wife (American) flew over to the uk December 2019 on the usual 6 month visitor visa, our initial plan was to spend that 6 months establishing a home and getting our paper work all together so we could briefly return to the us and complete our immigration application (fiancé visa) from there so spending the least amount of time apart as possible, our plan changed slightly on the advice of our lawyer at the time, who informed us it would be better to marry here in the uk whilst on the visitor visa so we booked our wedding for April 2020 which was then postponed to July due to the pandemic, our lawyer told us we’d be quicker going down the human rights course of immigration, the issues really began when the pandemic hit, my wife lost the room she was renting back in the us so had no where to return to, my hours were cut at work so we slowly started having to eat into our savings to pay rent and basically survive, my wife at this point is now an overstayer, our lawyer was not answering calls I’m guessing because of COVID and at that point did not have enough money left to pay her, we have tried contacting charity’s for help, citizens advice etc, but have not heard a thing back yet, then 2 weeks ago my wife was diagnosed with cervical cancer, now we have received letters from the nhs asking about immigration status, everything has just piled on top of us and I have literally no idea who to turn too, I do not want my wife to be deported she has nowhere to go back in the us, we desperately need the medical treatment for my wife, we have used basically all of our savings to survive to this point so can not afford a lawyer or medical bills. If anyone has any help or advice at all it would be massively appreciated
