Hello, (I apologize if I'm in the wrong subreddit or if I made some mistakes)
I need some help. I'm a Permanent Resident and I applied for Citizenship in February before Corona. Sadly, it seems like my process is stopped at the moment. Due to the difficult times, we are living in, my fiancƩe and I have plans on getting married sooner but she is a Danish citizen. Here is where all our questions and concerns are...
1) Since I'm not a Citizen yet, I can't do the fiancƩ Visa. As I Understand the Family-Based visa (through spouse) is our only option?
2) As per the Presidential Proclamation, her being my wife would allow her entrance to the USA regardless of coming from Denmark and only having her ESTA visa?
3) I'm returning to the USA mid-September, If we were to get married in a few weeks: Should we start the immigration process now online or wait until we are physically in the USA?
4) I have been working on getting my Citizenship for the last 5 years, I do not want to lose it. Could I stay in Europe and when the citizenship process needs me to be present, travel there to the USCIS Office? So far in the last 5 years, I have been absent from the country for at least 300 days. I also know that perhaps my Permanent Residency could be taken away for not living permanently in the USA, right?
5) Also, if I get married there is a great possibility my last name could change. Do I have to report this to USCIS? Would it make it more difficult for my process to be completed?
Thank you so much for your time and for reading, I deeply appreciate your answers and experiences.
