So I wanted to get some input. I have a girlfriend and we’ve been together for almost a year. We want to start a life together here (USA). She lives in Mexico and has a baby. However, the baby is under the dads name and he is not willing to give up his rights. He does not provide for the baby in any way, I provide everything for both of them. I had a consultation with a lawyer and told me there is nothing we can do with that and only thing we can do is have him sign a form allowing his daughter to leave and I petition for them to have green cards, which the process can take anywhere from 12-18 months. Longer now due to the whole pandemic. Is there a lawyer or someone who has more knowledge on what else can be done?
