My husband (USC) and I (on F-1 visa) got married last month. We have been together for over 5 years, and living together for 2.5 of those years. We do plan on opening up a joint checking and savings account, it just has not been a priority, as we are very comfortable with how we handle our finances - transferring money through Zelle for split rent and bills, taking turns paying for food, certain bills, memberships, etc, used Venmo back in the day before Zelle.
My question is, should we include our bank statements showing these Zelle transfers, and screenshots of Venmo transactions? Should we perhaps write a letter explaining our plans to open joint accounts?
It seems a little excessive, but this is the only evidence we have for joint finances (besides a shared costco credit card).
