Hi there.
I live in Bangladesh and I have severe OCD for the past decade. Its severe enough that I personally consider it a disability, although I am not sure whether it meets the legal definition of disability. I have problems in a social setting but nonetheless I have managed to complete an MBA and I hold down a stressful finance job for years now.
I was wondering, if I applied to immigrate to Canada or Australia whether through employment immigration (and eventual permanent residency and citizenship) or for say a student visa or even just for a tourist visit:
- Do I need to reveal my condition in my visa application or at the border?
- Will my condition adversely affect my application?
- If I lie, will there be adverse consequences? (I am ofcourse not planning on lying, I am just curious as to what happens and what the law is).
- Will I be held in detention and interviewed intensely?
Bonus Question: What happens if someone with OCD had a history of hospitalizations? Or say someone had schizophrenia but is now functioning more or less normally? What would the answers to the above questions be in this scenario?
