Received my permanent residency via marriage 5 years ago. I have back taxes owed from 2012. These are owed from my ITIN that I worked under before having a legal status in the USA.
My wife and I have filled our taxes jointly since being married and only use my given social security number when I got my green card.
However once a year I get a tax bill from 2012 for the amount owed from that tax year. Could this affect my credit or naturalization proceedings. Applied for citizenship last October.
I know that back owed taxes will cause a denial in naturalizan but does the IRS inform USCIS about my old ITIN number? Or does it come in their report when I go for the citizenship interview?
