H1b ssn

Hi, I have a friend who starts work on jul 1 on an h1b. They arrived a few days ago. They went to the ssn office and they said you have to quarantine for 14 days because you traveled from another country. My qs is the 14 days will end after the start date. Can you start work without an ssn? How are others dealing with this? Thanks submitted by /u/theklaw22 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/immigration/comments/o8sjy0/h1b_ssn/

Qualifying for a green card

I am a 20 year old Mexican American with American citizenship living in California. As my 21 birthday approaches,my mom is near to apply for a green card. Currently we are in financial crisis and need to move out of our current rental home to another more in a comfortable budget range. The first link below directs you to a website that helps find adorable housing in nearby areas. However in the second link below it talks about public charge and states that my mother were to gain benefits from the government she will likely be denied from obtaining a green card. Is this information true? Or can we obtain low financial housing with no green card application issues? Thank you any information towards my issue is helpful. https://resources.hud.gov/# https://ctlawhelp.org/en/public-charge-rule submitted by /u/rjdd14 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/immigration/comments/o8s3we/qualifying_for_a_green_card/

I-751 Interview and lost expired Green Card

I have a I751 interview coming up and I've been getting stamps (I-551) in my passport every year since my green card expired 2 years ago while my petition was processing. The card is long expired. I was wondering, is it ok if I lost the expired green card? I was able to find my Employment Authorization card with my A number on it. Just want to make sure this isn't going to be a problem. submitted by /u/Lydialelou [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/immigration/comments/o8jwrr/i751_interview_and_lost_expired_green_card/

GC Slip after Biometrics?

We had our Greencard biometrics a couple of weeks ago. We started the GC process about 1.5yrs+ ago so it’s been ages. I was told that before you get your actual GC you get a slip of paper in the post that states it’s coming and will allow you to travel and my spouse to work in the US before the actual card comes through. Anyone know how long that usually takes / how long it’s taken you if you’ve been through the process? Our lawyer doesn’t seem to know so be great to get some insight into it. Thanks! submitted by /u/labuddha [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/immigration/comments/o8j319/gc_slip_after_biometrics/

Any tips for a CR1 I-130?

I have a pretty straightforward situation and petition for a spousal CR1, so I'm forgoing the lawyer and doing it myself. But does anyone have any recommendations for submitting the docs? I've seen some websites that help you gather and submit your package, but are they worth the money? They kinda remind me of Turbo Tax. Besides that anything else I might over look? submitted by /u/Max_Power742 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/immigration/comments/o8iz5c/any_tips_for_a_cr1_i130/
