Green Card Lottery and other US Visas

Long story short, I made a terrible mistake in college and stole from Macy’s. Got a letter in the mail, paid a fine/restitution and attended a class and it’s been expunged(bad friends, and convinced me to take 90 dollar blouse...so stupid) Fast forward 5 years later, my husband is applying for his greencard using me as his sponsor and I’m terrified my mistakes could have a negative impact on the process. We both have careers, and his record is squeaky clean. Hey guys, I don’t know if any of can help me with this or have any advise, here is some background: I’m currently waiting for my approval of my green card (but it might take a couple more years) and my visa expired after I submitted my application. My question is am I able to fly within the US with my passport of my original country or should I completely avoid it and not risk the trouble it might bring. Hey, so i am a canadian citizen who worked with an employer from aug-sept 2020 on an h1b and then i got a new job and received a new h1b which means i got a new i-797. Do I have to travel back to Canada and re-enter on the new I-797 or am i fine? My i-797 from the previous employer is valid till 1 yr but with the new employer the i-797 is valid for 3 years. Hence, do I have to travel back to Canada and then re-enter the US with the new I-797 or am i fine to continue working in the US? The issue is if i travel then i will have to quarantine and pay the hotel expense. I applied for a visa to the US ,September 2019. Purpose : Disabled People Programs. I was part of a program that helps disabled people and organize activities for them (program duration was 2 months ). I received a letter of invitation from the US to participate in the program, NGO type of thing. Not my first time ive been involved in NGO's in Poland/Sweden/Turkey/North Africa and Vietnam I was a student at that time in the Uni , it was summer program in the US. Anyway at the day of the interview for the Visa i was asked random question related to me / project, but after i was a handed a refusal paper no explanation in that paper that clarifies why i was refused a visa , but i know the reason it was because im from North Africa. The reason i posted this is because i was disappointed in the visa system it's not fair to let a person decide wether you get a visa or not ( we know people can be bias maybe he didn't like the way i looked ...), and my documents were all present...

Background: my wife and I are both US Citizens. We also work for the us government. My mother was denied a tourist visa. Her purpose to visit was to come assist my wife and I with our newborn baby. reason for denial: Denied under section 214(b). Failure to show that she is not abandoning her home country. ​ I would like to reapply because we need her help with the baby especially once we go back to work. So my questions are:- Does being US government employees give the mom any credibility when she applies for the Visa? - Can I reapply immediately? - what can we do to strengthen the case for the visa? - can I file a I-130 when she gets here to change her status?
